"Obama's Victory"

The following is an article found in numerous conservative blogs and is attributed to The London Daily Mail.

No author is named.

And I could not find the article among the pages of The London Daily Mail.

However, it is a good read no matter who wrote it.

*Obama's Victory*

A View From Across The Pond

    The London Daily Mail 1-6-9

A victory for the hysterical Oprah Winfrey, the mad racist preacher Jeremiah Wright, the mainstream media who abandoned any sense of objectivity long ago, Europeans who despise America largely because they depend on her, comics who claim to be dangerous and fearless but would not dare attack genuinely powerful special interest groups.

A victory for Obama-worshippers everywhere.

A victory for the cult of the cult.

A man who has done little with his life but has written about his achievements as if he had found the cure for cancer in between winning a marathon and building a nuclear reactor with his teeth.

Victory for style over substance, hyperbole over history, rabble-raising over reality.

A victory for Hollywood , the most dysfunctional community in the world. Victory for Streisand, Spielberg, Soros and Sarandon.

Victory for those who prefer welfare to will and interference to independence. For those who settle for group think and herd mentality rather than those who fight for individual initiative and the right to be out of step with meager political fashion.

Victory for a man who is no friend of freedom. He and his people have already stated that media has to be controlled so as to be balanced, without realizing the extraordinary irony within that statement. Like most liberal zealots, the Obama-worshipers constantly speak of Fox and Limbaugh, when the vast bulk of television stations and newspapers are drastically liberal and anti-conservative. Senior Democrat Chuck Schumer said that just as pornography should be censored, so should talk radio. In other words, one of the few free and open means of popular expression may well be cornered and beaten by bullies who even in triumph cannot tolerate any criticism and opposition.

A victory for those who believe the state is better qualified to raise children than the family, for those who prefer teachers' unions to teaching and for those who are naively convinced that if the West is sufficiently weak towards its enemies, war and terror will dissolve as quickly as the tears on the face of a leftist celebrity.

A victory for social democracy even after most of Europe has come to the painful conclusion that social democracy leads to mediocrity, failure, unemployment, inflation, higher taxes and economic stagnation.

A victory for intrusive lawyers, banal sentimentalists, social extremists and urban snobs.

Truer words were never written.

GoodBye, Dubya

History may prove you to have been a good president.
Perhaps even one of the better ones.

Twenty or thirty years can make a difference in perspective.

The endless disrespect you had to endure as a sitting president was shameful.

You were there for America in the days after S
eptember 11, 2001.
For which I am grateful.

But somewhere along the way you went 'out to lunch' and didn't come back.

Quite frankly, if the Dummycrats had put up anyone worthwhile instead of
Hanoi John Kerry, that talking horse's ass, in 2004, I would have voted for him.

Also, quite frankly, I will always believe that you went to war with Iraq because you wanted to get Saddam Hussein because he tried to kill your daddy.

But. Whether it was for WMD, or oil, or Texas Justice, we got involved in a long, costly war in which the lives of many, many fine men and women have been lost. It's been reported that you shed tears for them. I hope so. Their sa
crifice is your legacy.

Vanishing Act

Barack Obama has reserved seats for the Tuskegee Airmen on the Capitol lawn
to honor "their role in breaking down racial barriers in the United States decades before the civil rights era".

A heroes' welcome is planned.

Well, my dad had a different opinion.

You see, Dad was a US Army Air Corps bomber pilot in Europe and Northern Africa during WW II. Dad did not like having the Tuskegee Airmen as fighter escorts on his missions. Why? Because when German fighters appeared, the TA escort disappeared.

Revisionist history be damned.

Rabbits and Rats and Mice, Oh My!

Mankind started coming to Macquarie Island in about 1810 to kill the island's native animals (fur seals, elephant seals, and penguins) for fur and blubber.

During these visits, rats and mice came off the ships and prospered due to the lack of predators (mankind not counting). OOPS.

Cats were then deliberately introduced to keep the rodents from eating mankind's food stores. So the cats ate the native seabirds to the tune of about 60,000 per year. OOPS.

Then, about 1870, rabbits were brought to the island by sealers to breed for food. Within a hundred years, 100,000+ rabbits were snarfing down the native vegetation. OOPS.

In 1985 mankind started removing the 2500 cats, the last of which were removed in June 2000.

Without the cats, the seabird _and rodent_ populations started rising. OOPS.

Rats and mice ate the birds' eggs as well as the young chicks. Rabbits ate the grass. The loss of vegetation has lead to, wait for it, soil erosion and cliff collapses. In September 2006, a landslide at Lusitania Bay partially destroyed an important penguin breeding colony.  OOPS.

Removing all the feral cats from Macquarie "caused environmental devastation" and will cost authorities 24 million Australian dollars ($16.2 million US) to remedy.
The 'remedy' is to remove the rest of the 'invasive animals'... rabbits, rats, and mice.
Plans to eradicate both rabbits as well as rats and mice from the island will begin in 2010. Helicopters using global positioning systems will drop poisonous bait that targets all three pests. Later, teams will shoot, fumigate and trap the remaining rabbits.

OMG. We need to turn these people loose on the terrorists!

So what's my point? Circle of Life? Don't Mess with Mother Nature?

I have no idea but I do have a headache.

Happy Birthday to a Great American

Robert Edward Lee

19 January 1807

"So far from engaging in a war to perpetuate slavery, I am rejoiced that Slavery is abolished. I believe it will be greatly for the interest of the South. So fully am I satisfied of this that I would have cheerfully lost all that I have lost by the war, and suffered all that I have suffered to have this object attained."

General Robert E. Lee, 1 May 1870

"Lee was distressed when news reached him that Virginia had adopted an Ordinance of Secession on April 17, 1861. He had supported preservation of the Union that his father and uncles had helped create and opposed slavery, but he remained loyal to his native state. He was at home at Arlington on April 20, 1861, when he made his decision to resign his commission in the U.S. Army. Two days later Lee left Arlington for Richmond to accept command of Virginia's military forces with the General Assembly's approval; he never returned to Arlington." - National Park Service at Arlington House

$150 Million

Of the taxpayers' dollars. For?
"The price tag for President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration gala is expected to break records, with some estimates reaching as high as $150 million. Despite the bleak economy, however, Democrats who called on President George W. Bush to be frugal four years ago are issuing no such demands now." ... NewsMax

Media Moron, the Local Edition

I was watching WESH-2 News, our local NBC news-affiliate, last night.

There was a report on William Ayers, co-founder of the radical Weathermen, speaking at FSU.

JIM PAYNE (why do these guys all look alike?) actually said, "Ayers used to pal around with terrorists."

Excuse me, Jimbo, but
Billy the Bomber Ayers WAS a terrorist, not just a pal of them.

And he is unrepentant about it.

Whether you wrote the story _ or were reading what somebody else wrote, you should make sure that whatever comes out of your mouth is factual.

It's too bad that the Society of Professional Journalist's Code of Ethics  is merely a guide, not a rule book.
