We Are at War

Um, no…wrong.
Have you found yourself angrily talking back at the television lately?

Or better yet – as in my case – screaming?

Well, as I found out recently, I am not alone.
When public opinion and the real world collided on President Obama’s lap after the Christmas Day bomber set his pants on fire (and let’s hope something else near and dear to his BVDs) during Northwest Flight 253’s approach to Detroit, President Obama finally stated publicly that America is at war. With his keen sense of the obvious coming to his aid at last, he stated, “Let’s be clear. We are at war. We are at war with al Qaeda.” The only problem is…that statement is not clear and only confuses matters, because it is wildly incorrect.
This administration continues to make very serious mistakes about our national security because they are not very serious about it. A very serious administration would know – and admit to – the fact that we are not just at war with al Qaeda, but with Jihad itself.

Saying that we are at war only with al Qaeda would have been tantamount to saying, during World War II, that we were at war with only the 25th Panzer Division of the German Army, and not with the entire German Army itself.
Yes, we are at war with al Qaeda… and also with Hamas and Hezbollah and Egyptian Islamic Jihad and al-Gama'at al-Islamiyya and Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade and Ansar al Islam and Harakat ul-Mujahadin …well, you get the idea. What animates, connects and indeed unites these various groups – and many more? Jihad. Holy War against the infidels.

In fact, according to the April 30, 2008 report from the Office of the Coordinator for Counter-terrorism of the U.S. Department of State, there are 42 different “U.S. Government Designated Foreign Terrorist Organizations.”

It might do the president’s advisors well to read the report before they allow him again, with the entire world watching, to embarrass himself mightily.
We are at war with Jihadists.

We are at war with Islamic terrorists.

We are at war with Muslim extremists.

We are at war with Islamic radicals.

There are many ways to state the obvious, so why then does the administration insist on playing word games? Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says in her speeches “man-caused disasters” rather than “terrorism.”  Attorney General Eric Holder announced in March of ‘08 that the term “enemy combatant” will no longer be used by the federal government to describe, er, enemy combatants captured on the battlefield during counter-terrorism and counterinsurgency military operations.

I must admit I was pleasantly surprised that Obama even used the word “war” at all since he had stated that the "war on terror" would now be called "Overseas Contingency Operations."
Why is our current administration so hell bent on being politically correct – or just plain incorrect?

Do they honestly believe that if they use kinder, gentler language that those who want to kill us – those who want to destroy our country and destroy our entire culture – will just lay down their weapons and play patty-cake with us?

Are they trying to convince the American public of this or just themselves?
This is nothing more than political correctness, with a little ignorance thrown in, run amuck. The United States as well as the rest of the world is facing an enemy of epic proportions. This is a war unlike any other this country has ever had to face. The battlefield is not in a specified area but rather it is worldwide; the enemy has no common uniform nor does he come from a common country. We are at war with the whole of militant Islam, wherever it resides on earth. There is no room for political correctness in any war, and much less so in one where our enemies are trying to kill innocent civilians in the name of their religion.
Imagine where we would be if we had adhered to political correctness during World War II. Most of you reading this would be speaking German and others, like me, would not be here at all. We called the Germans “Nazis” because that’s what they were. While I was growing up during the Cold War, we called the Russians “Commies” because that’s what they were.

As best as I can recall from history, America and the allies defeated the Nazis as well as brought down the Iron Curtain only 40 years later.

This was not accomplished by trying to re-write words to be more appealing to the enemy.

This was not done by giving the foreign enemy American constitutional rights and then trying them in our civil courts. We had P.O.W. camps for a reason and the enemy was treated as such.
The people of this country, and the administration as a whole, need to wake up and look at history. The first Jihad that swept through the Middle East, southern Spain, North Africa and into southeast Europe resulted in Islamic domination of those areas; that’s why in areas where there used to be large Christian populations, there are no longer Christians even living there. They either were forced to convert to Islam by their Islamic conquerors, or they fled, or they were killed. History shows us what Islam is capable of and what must be done to stop it. It will not be stopped by using politically correct terms, which do nothing more than show our enemy that we are weak, intimidated by them and confused.
The people who died on 9/11 were from all walks of life, many countries, all political parties and all religions. One thing they all had in common: no matter who they were or what their nationality was, is that they all bled the same color. The enemy has said they “will kill us wherever we are.”

Does that sound politically correct to you?

Do you think they care about such nonsense?

While our country is trying to figure out new ways to say the truth, but to sugarcoat it so it sounds like kids’ play in an elementary schoolyard, the enemy is devising ingenious new ways to slaughter us – men, women, children. They could not care less about who goes first or worst.
Somewhere along the line, America became more concerned with analyzing its own alleged guilt than with securing its own borders and aggressively protecting its own citizens. If we as a country continue down this path of childishly naïve political correctness and tip-toeing around our enemy’s feelings, we will ourselves become victims of a “man caused disaster.”

Haiti Horribilius

According to the Local news , the American Red Cross wants to bring 45,000 Haitian refugees into Jacksonville, then disperse them across Florida with 4,000 coming to the Orlando area.   And they may be given a fast track to visas so they can get jobs (yeah, right).

   My problems with this:

#1  Barky Obummer has already promised an "immediate investment" of $100 MILLION to the Haiti relief fund.  I guess we should feel lucky that he didn't use the B-word (as in billion).

#1a  Just what are we investing in?   Billions of $$ in taxpayer and private aid to Haiti hasn't worked in the past.
Much of the U.S. government's aid to Haiti comes through the U.S. Agency for International Development, which has provided at least $800 million from budget years 2004 through 2008, agency figures show.

At least $700 million more was pledged for Haiti by governments, international givers and charities at an April 2009 donors conference.

#2 Will this become S.O.P for all international disaster victims?

"The American Red Cross has seen massive migration into the U.S. from areas like Kosovo and Bosnia in the past"

#3  Are they gonna bring the ones running around the streets with machetes, looting and killing?

#4 With the US unemployment rate at about 10%, jobs should be offered to American citizens before refugees, emigres, whoever. Period.

#5 If the American Red Cross is suddenly overflowing with money for non-American citizens, they'd better not be poor mouthin' next time a hurricane rips up the Gulf Coast.

If Barky wants to spend money helping people, why the hell not start with the 2 million Native Americans who have been pretty much ignored by our government for decades?

Timing is Everything

It took Barack Hussein Obama 3 days to respond (publicly) to the narrowly thwarted airline bombing in Detroit,

but less than 30 minutes to  become involved in the Henry Gate / Sgt. Crowley arrest controversy  (even though he didn't have "all the facts").

It took Barack Hussein Obama 4 months to respond to General McKhrystal's request for more troops in the WAR in Afghanistan,

but only 2 days to pledge "immediate investment" of $100 million to the earthquake relief and recovery in Haiti.

When we wonder what Barky's priorities might be, well, his actions speak louder than words.

This community organizer cannot become a 'former president' soon enough.

The Ultimate Social Promotion

The question:

"Why would U.S. Army Major Nidal Hasan, murderer of 13 people at Ft Hood and a Muslim, be advanced in spite of all the worries over his competence?"

Superiors Ignored Their Worries

... While in medical school at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences from 1997 to 2003, Hasan received a string of below average and failing grades, was put on academic probation and showed little motivation to learn.

... In telling episodes from the latter stages of Hasan's lengthy medical education (he took 6 years instead of the customary four to graduate), he gave a class presentation questioning whether the U.S.-led war on terror was actually a war on Islam. And students said he suggested that Shariah, or Islamic law, trumped the Constitution and he attempted to justify suicide bombings...
... Yet no one in Hasan's chain of command appears to have challenged his eligibility to hold a secret security clearance even though they could have because the statements raised doubt about his loyalty to the United States.

... Instead, in July 2009, Hasan arrived in central Texas, his secret clearance intact, his reputation as a weak performer well known, and Army authorities believing that posting him at such a large facility would mask his shortcomings.

The answer: It is political correctness run amuck.

The Obama Salute

It's pathetic that a Commander-in-Chief should have to be taught how to salute the men and women who serve at his whim.

PS: Somebody had to teach Bubba Clinton how to salute (too).

The Voice of Experience

Recent events may be an indication of what happens when we don't listen to it.

The following is a statement released by Retired Lt. Col. Allen West, Nov. 7, 2009, following the Ft. Hood massacre:

"This past Thursday 13 American Soldiers were killed and another 30 wounded at a horrific mass shooting at US Army installation, Ft Hood Texas.

As I watched in horror and then anger I recalled my two years of final service in the Army as a Battalion Commander at Ft Hood, 2002-2004.

My wife and two daughters were stunned at the incident having lived on the post in family housing.

A military installation, whether it is Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine, or Coast Guard, is supposed to be a safe sanctuary for our Warriors and their families. It is intended to provide a home whereby our “Band of Brothers and Sisters” can find solace and bond beyond just the foxhole but as family units.

A military installation is supposed to be a place where our Warriors train for war, to serve and protect our Nation.

On Thursday, 5 November 2009 Ft Hood became a part of the battlefield in the war against Islamic totalitarianism and state sponsored terrorism.

There may be those who feel threatened by my words and would even recommend they not be uttered. To those individuals I say step aside because now is not the time for cowardice. Our Country has become so paralyzed by political correctness that we have allowed a vile and determined enemy to breach what should be the safest place in America, an Army post.

We have become so politically correct that our media is more concerned about the stress of the shooter, Major Nidal Malik Hasan. The misplaced benevolence intending to portray him as a victim is despicable. The fact that there are some who have now created an entire new classification called; “pre-virtual vicarious Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)” is unconscionable.

This is not a “man caused disaster”. It is what it is ... an Islamic jihadist attack.

We have seen this before in 2003 when Sgt Hasan of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) threw hand grenades and opened fire into his Commanding Officer’s tent in Kuwait . We have seen the foiled attempt of Albanian Muslims who sought to attack Ft Dix, NJ. Recently we saw a young convert to Islam named Carlos Bledsoe travel to Yemen, receive terrorist training, and return to gun down two US Soldiers at a Little Rock, Arkansas Army recruiting station. We thwarted another Islamic terrorist plot in North Carolina which had US Marine Corps Base, Quantico as a target.

What have we done with all these prevalent trends? Nothing.

What we see are recalcitrant leaders who are refusing to confront the issue, Islamic terrorist infiltration into America, and possibly further into our Armed Services. Instead we have a multiculturalism and diversity syndrome on steroids.

Major Hasan should have never been transferred to Ft Hood; matter of fact, he should have been Chaptered from the Army. His previous statements, poor evaluation reports, and the fact that the FBI had him under investigation for jihadist website posting should have been proof positive.

However, what we have is a typical liberal approach to find a victim, not the 13 and 30 Soldiers and Civilian, but rather the poor shooter. A shooter who we are told was a great American, who loved the Army and serving his Nation ... and the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) stating that his actions had nothing to do with religious belief.

We know that Major Hasan deliberately planned this episode; he did give away his possessions. He stood atop a table in the confined space of the Soldier Readiness Center shouting “Allahu Akhbar”, same chant as the 9-11 terrorists and those we fight against overseas in the Iraq and Afghanistan theaters of operation.

No one in leadership seems willing to sound the alarm for the American people; they are therefore complicit in any future attacks. Our Congress should suspend the insidious action to vote on a preposterous and unconstitutional healthcare bill and resolve the issue of “protecting the American people”.

The recent incidents in Dearborn,Michigan, Boston, Massachusetts , Dallas, Texas , and Chicago, Illinois, should bear witness to the fact that we have an Islamic terrorism issue in America . And don’t have CAIR call me and try to issue a vanilla press statement; they are an illegitimate terrorist associated organization which should be disbanded.

We have Saudi Arabia funding close to 80% of the mosques in the United States , one right here in South Florida, Pompano Beach . Are we building churches and synagogues in Saudi Arabia ? Are “Kaffirs” and “Infidels” allowed travel to Mecca ?

So much for peaceful coexistence.

Saudi Arabia is sponsoring radical Imams who enter into our prisons and convert young men into a virulent Wahabbist ideology… one resulting in four individuals wanting to destroy synagogues in New York with plastic explosives. Thank God the explosives were dummy. They are sponsoring textbooks which present Islamic centric revisionist history in our schools.

We must recognize that there is an urgent need to separate the theo-political radical Islamic ideology out of our American society. We must begin to demand surveillance of suspected Imams and mosques that are spreading hate and preaching the overthrow of our Constitutional Republic … that speech is not protected under First Amendment, it is sedition and if done by an American, treason.
There should not be some 30 Islamic terrorist training camps in America; that has nothing to do with First Amendment, Freedom of Religion. The Saudis are not our friends and any American political figure who believes such is delusional.

When tolerance becomes a one way street it certainly leads to cultural suicide. We are on that street. Liberals cannot be trusted to defend our Republic, because their sympathies obviously lie with their perceived victim, Major Nidal Malik Hasan.

I make no apologies for these words, and anyone angered by them, please, go to Ft Hood and look into the eyes of the real victims. The tragedy at Ft Hood Texas did not have to happen. Consider now the feelings of those there and on every military installation in the world. Consider the feelings of the Warriors deployed into combat zones who now are concerned that their loved ones at home are in a combat zone.

Ft Hood suffered an Islamic jihadist attack. Stop the denial and realize a simple point.

The reality of your enemy must become your own.

Steadfast and Loyal,
Lieutenant Colonel Allen B West (US Army, Ret)

You Tell 'im, Dick!

Kudos to former VP Dick Cheney, one of the too-few who has the you-know-whats to tell the current Coward-in-Chief to "stop pretending we are not at war" ...

From an interview with the Politico:

H/T to Ed Morrissey at HOT AIR

Dick Cheney:
“As I’ve watched the events of the last few days it is clear once again that President Obama is trying to pretend we are not at war. He seems to think if he has a low key response to an attempt to blow up an airliner and kill hundreds of people, we won’t be at war.

He seems to think if he gives terrorists the rights of Americans, lets them lawyer up and reads them their Miranda rights, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if we bring the mastermind of 9/11 to New York, give him a lawyer and trial in civilian court, we won’t be at war.

He seems to think if he closes Guantanamo and releases the hard-core al Qaeda trained terrorists still there, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if he gets rid of the words, ‘war on terror,’ we won’t be at war. But we are at war and when President Obama pretends we aren’t, it makes us less safe.

Why doesn’t he want to admit we’re at war? It doesn’t fit with the view of the world he brought with him to the Oval Office. It doesn’t fit with what seems to be the goal of his presidency – social transformation— the restructuring of American society. President Obama’s first object and his highest responsibility must be to defend us against an enemy that knows we are at war.”

President Footloose

Footloose: Having no attachments or ties; free to do as one pleases

I was just listening to our local news when the newsperson (I hesitate to use the word journalist) commented, "President Barack (Hussein) Obama is still enjoying some 'down time' in Hawaii."

So he is. At $4000 per night. Charged to the American tax-payer. Including those without jobs. If he wanted to get away, he couldn't have taken the family to Camp David?

And down time

Must be that he's tired from all the shifting blame (it's Bush's fault)  and all the dodging and weaving instead of doing his job.

Maybe he's tired from all the self -promotion and traveling:

to New York and back for the Walter Cronkite tribute;

to Copenhagen and back TWICE
 - lobbying for the 2014 Olympics even tho Michelle and Oprah were already there (they took the smaller AF One, also at taxpayer expense); he spent all of  4 hours in Copenhagen and left before the decision was announced;
 - and for the Climate conference (he came back with nothing, but Scty of State Hillary did manage to promise $100,000,000,000 (BILLION) taxpayer dollars to a bunch of dead-end countries;

to Oslo and back to receive the (Ig)Nobel Prize;

to Chicago and back for Valentine's Day with the wife;

to Hawaii and back for a $4000 per night 10-day Holiday:

None of which were essential presidential state business.

But NOT to Berlin for the 20th anniversary for the Fall of the Wall (Barky refuses to acknowledge any accomplishment by any GOP president) , NOR to any war zone to visit the troops on the holidays. Go figure.

Obama Travels

Man! If it weren't for campaigning for any-person-thing registered as Dummycrat, date night with the wife, or self-promotion... he'd be sitting in that boring Oval Office actually having to be presidential instead of acting like it.
