Fallen Heroes

While the MainStreamMedia and its moronic minions mourn the deaths of two entertainers, whose only contribution to the world was entertainment, the deaths of American soldiers go pretty much un-noted.

Spec. Rodrigo Rivas and Sgt. Ricky Jones , US Army, were KIA on June 21st in Bagram, Afghanistan.

1st Sgt. John Blair , US Army, was KIA on June 29th in Mado Yazi, Afghanistan.

Staff Sgt. Joshua Melton and Sgt. Paul Smith, US Army, were KIA on June 19th in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

Sgt. Joshua Soto , US Army, was KIA in Iraq, June 16th.

Negotiating With Terrorist

by Andrew McCarthy
The Obama administration ignores a longstanding — and life-saving — policy.

As the Iranian government’s murderous repression of the Iranian people continues, critics right and left agitate over the deafening silence of an American president who, as a candidate, derided the Bush administration’s ambitious democracy promotion as too timid.

They speculate as to why Barack Obama won’t speak out: Why won’t he condemn the mullahs? Is he daft enough to believe he can charm the regime into abandoning its nuclear ambitions? Does the self-described realist so prize stability that he thinks it’s worth abandoning the cause of freedom — and the best chance in 30 years of dislodging an implacable American enemy?

In truth, it’s worse than that. Even as the mullahs are terrorizing the Iranian people, the Obama administration is negotiating with an Iranian-backed terrorist organization and abandoning the American proscription against exchanging terrorist prisoners for hostages kidnapped by terrorists.

Worse still, Obama has already released a terrorist responsible for the brutal murders of five American soldiers in exchange for the remains of two deceased British hostages.

... Back in May 2008, in a speech before the Israeli Knesset, President Bush derided the “foolish delusion” of unidentified, naïve politicians who “seem to believe we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along.” Exhibiting a thin-skinned consciousness of guilt, Sen. Barack Obama assumed Bush had been referring to him, and lashed out: “George Bush knows that I have never supported engagement with terrorists.” ...

President Obama is now way beyond mere support of such engagement. Under his leadership, and even as the mullahs who have been at war with the United States for 30 years are engaged in a Tiananmen-style crackdown, Obama is neck-deep in terrorist-for-hostages negotiations with Iran-backed killers who have American blood on their hands. ... The media have had precious little to say about this astounding performance.

The Organization Formerly Known as ACORN

Now Known as "Community Organizations International"

The organization formerly known as ACORN thinks it can somehow make things all better, maybe avoid criminal prosecution, by changing it's name.

Well, why not?

The War on Terror is now known as the Overseas Contingency Operation.

And a Terrorist is now referred to by some as a freedom fighter.

Former ACORN Board Members Speak Out

It's Past 3 A.M.

While Thousands of people are in the streets of Tehran, a few people seem to be Missing: Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Barack Hussein Obama

Not Missing: Mir Hossein Mousavi

Nile Gardiner:

Ten days on from the fraudulent Iranian election, President Obama still looks like a deer in the headlights without a coherent strategy.
His response has been weak-kneed and utterly lacking in conviction. When faced with his first real test as a world leader Barack Obama decided to press the snooze button rather than take decisive action.
It is hard to imagine Ronald Reagan sitting on the fence while a revolution took place before the eyes of the world against one of the most oppressive regimes on the planet.
Obama finally issued a half-hearted statement over the weekend calling on Tehran to "stop all violent and unjust actions against its own people" only after coming under intense criticism from critics at home for his softly softly approach.
By that time dozens of demonstrators had been murdered by the barbaric "security forces" and their proxy militias and thousands of protesters, including women had been brutally beaten.
Obama did not though question the legitimacy of the Iranian election result, directly criticize Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, or outline any change in America’s policy towards Iran.

As far as the Obama team is concerned, the demonstrations are an annoying inconvenience getting in the way of the new policy of "engagement" with rogue regimes, also known more commonly as "appeasement."

Every impression is given that the Obama White House is largely indifferent to the plight of the Iranian people and their suffering. The most powerful man in the world is acting as though he were the leader of a small neutral nation, rather than the head of a global superpower.
Barack Obama has a clear choice between siding with millions of Iranians who are clamoring for greater freedom, or aligning himself through passive acquiescence with a brutal Islamist tyranny.
Just as the United States openly sided with Russian and East European dissidents who spoke out against Communist oppression decades ago, today it must voice its support for those who are fighting for liberty in Iran.
The United States cannot remain neutral in the face of totalitarianism -- it has to take a stand and be on the right side of history. It must also seek to isolate Ahmadinejad and the Mullahs that back him rather than continue a fatally flawed strategy of engagement.

Ultimately, short of military action, the West’s best hope in heading off the prospect of an aggressively hostile Iran armed with nuclear weapons is to back a change of regime.
As a world leader Obama is already looking like the Jimmy Carter of the 21st Century, passive in the face of an array of adversaries, and actively weakening America’s defenses by cutting defense spending while adopting an apologetic tone for his country’s past.
In his first six months Obama cannot point to a single foreign policy success. He should though acknowledge that the Obama doctrine of reaching out to America’s enemies, including Iran and North Korea, has been a spectacular failure.

Vigorous Debate?

ROBERT GIBBS, WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY and Media Mouthpiece:

I think the president has been clear that this is a vigorous debate in Iran between Iranians about their leadership.

Well, I guess I've just never considered shooting and brutally beating unarmed people as vigorous debate.

The New Era of Transparency

Barack Hussein Obama

1) has already forgotten,
2) is ignoring,
3) apparently never meant to keep

his pledge of a new era of transparency:

As a senator, Barack Obama denounced the Bush administration for holding "secret energy meetings" with oil executives at the White House. But last week public-interest groups were dismayed when his own administration rejected a Freedom of Information Act request for Secret Service logs showing the identities of coal executives who had visited the White House to discuss Obama's "clean coal" policies.

One reason: the disclosure of such records might impinge on privileged "presidential communications." The refusal, approved by White House counsel Greg Craig's office, is the latest in a series of cases in which Obama officials have opted against public disclosure.

Since Obama pledged on his first day in office to usher in a "new era" of openness, "nothing has changed," says David -Sobel, a lawyer who litigates FOIA cases. "For a president who said he was going to bring unprecedented transparency to government, you would certainly expect more than the recycling of old Bush secrecy policies."

Lightning Alley

Central Florida is known as the "Lightning Strike Capital of the World" and the area from Titusville (east coast) through Orlando to Tampa (west coast) is known as Lightning Alley

During yesterday afternoon's daily summer thunderstorm there were about 9,200 lightning strikes recorded.

The really close ones sometime set off our building's fire alarm, which is ear-splitting and cannot be ignored. Those of us who have been here a while know what's going on, and after checking to make sure that the building really isn't on fire, it's kinda fun to listen to the new people run up and down the stairs.

One couple even 'evacuated' their three cats into their car. Not even in carriers. Just threw 'em in the car. (Note: Kudos to them for thinking of the cats first

After the alarm was finally turned off and the storm was over, the real fun came when they tried to get the cats outta the car.

Czar You Kidding?

Barack Hussein Obama has been busily fulfilling his promise to 'create more jobs', only it's not for the 600,000 Americans filing unemployment claims.

No, he has been appointing 'Czars', somewhere between 16 -21 of them now.
Each one has as much or more power than Cabinet members and no accountability to anyone except Barack Hussein Obama; none with any sort of Congressional approval or oversight.
President Obama’s “czar strategy” is an unprecedented power grab centralizing authority in the White House, outside congressional oversight.

The power of the president increases as that of Congress decreases.

Celebrity Nitwit: David Letterman

This guy hasn't been funny in a very long time.

His recent 'jokes' about Sarah Palin's daughter "getting knocked up by Alex Rodriguez" and "solicited by Eliot Spitzer"
maintains his record.

His so-called 'apology', filled with moral indignation:

“These are not jokes made about her 14-year-old daughter. I would never, never make jokes about raping or having sex of any description with a 14-year-old girl…”
Of course you wouldn't. People might think you are sexually perverted.

But you weren't talking about Willow Palin, age 14. You were talking about Bristol Palin, age 18. You did not mention a name in your so-called joke.

And how is that better?

A 62-year old man making sexual fun of an 18-year old girl is supposed to be okay?

Michelle Malkin asks:

Dear David Letterman,
Will you teach your son to talk about women and girls the way you talk about Sarah Palin and her daughters?

It's one thing to mock, deride and denigrate adult politicians.
It's quite another to mock, deride and denigrate their children.

A Fox Is Guarding the Henhouse

And yet another WTF moment from Barack Hussein Obama:

Obama appoints Sunni Muslim to Asst Sec of Homeland Security

Arif Alikhan, currently deputy mayor for the city of Los Angeles, was appointed as assistant secretary for the Office of Policy Development at the Department of Homeland Security.

Muslim Democrats welcome Alikhan’s appointment.
Back in 2007, Alikhan was instrumental in Removing the Muslim terror tracking plan in L.A.

D-Day Speeches

We listened to all 4 of the speeches yesterday during the D-Day Commemoration at the American Cemetery at Normandy, France.

I thought Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper delivered the best, followed by Nicolas Sarkozy, Barack Hussein Obama, and Gordon Brown, in that order.

Gordon Brown, PM of the UK, who looked very unhappy ( wonder why ) , spiraled away from honoring the men of the Day into a political speech about Darfur among other things.

Prince Charles was there too, although he didn't speak and looked bored.
The interaction -or lack of- between the two Brits (seated next to one another) was interesting. I don't believe that either said a word to the other.

Obama's speech was not bad, at least he did not apologize to the French for littering the beach with 2,499 dead American soldiers on June 6, 1944.

Robbie Cooper at Urban Grounds makes this observation:

But I wanted to comment on one particular part of the speech — the part of the speech where President Obama was describing the horrors of Nazi ideology:

"Nazi ideology sought to subjugate, and humiliate, and exterminate, and perpetrated murder on a massive scale. Fueled by a hatred of those who were deemed different and therefore inferior. It was evil."

Every word of it true. Except of course you could give the exact same speech, and simply replace the word “Nazi” with “Islam” and it would be no less true.

Now, if Obama had given that speech in Cairo instead of the one he did, I would praise him for his courage.

"I call upon all who love freedom to stand with us."
General Dwight D. Eisenhower, June 6, 1944

Changing the Profile

I had to make a slight change in my profile today.

The 39 rolled over to 40.

That's years married.

Well over half my life.

So how does one stay married - to the same person- for forty years?

Three things:
1) always fight fair
2) giving and taking
3) have a sense of humor

Oh, and by giving and taking, I don't mean material things (although those are nice).

Shocked vs Saddened

Compare Barack Hussein Obama's responses:

On the murder of one American SOLDIER and the wounding of another:

"I am deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence against two brave young soldiers who were doing their part to strengthen our armed forces and keep our country safe. I would like to wish Quinton Ezeagwula a speedy recovery, and to offer my condolences and prayers to William Long’s family as they mourn the loss of their son."

On the murder of a Doctor/Abortionist:

"I am shocked and outraged by the murder of Dr. George Tiller as he attended church services this morning.  However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence."

It took Barack Hussein Obama, Commander-in-Chief, 3 DAYS to even comment on the attack on the two young American SOLDIERS.

And then he refers to it as a "senseless act of violence".

It was a heinous violent act by a Muslim Jihadi.

And he's 'saddened' by it. But not 'shocked and outraged'.

I am saddened and outraged but not shocked by everything this guy does and says.

Another Day, Another Slight to the Military

Barack Hussein Obama announced his choice for new Army Secretary yesterday.

Barack Hussein Obama did not once mention the two soldiers shot at an Arkansas recruiting station - one killed, one wounded.

Nor did he offer condolences to the family of the murdered soldier.

Was it because he didn't want to call attention to the shooter, an anti-military Muslim convert?

Was it because he really doesn't give a rat's ass about the military?

Commenter Happyscrapper at Michelle Malkin nails it:
Obama’s true feelings and agenda are becoming clearer every passing hour.

He is Commander-In-Chief of the armed forces, yet feels the murder of an abortion doctor is more tragic and more worthy of his condolences than the murder of a soldier.

Now, he is over kissing the a$$ of the Saudi King. Next, on to Egypt to spout off about his Muslim roots.

Interesting that no one heard about those “roots” when he was campaigning for Pres. In fact, his opponent, Juan McAmnesty, forbid anyone to even mention that Obama’s middle name was Hussein!

Everything was covered up by the complicit MSM… his associations, his Muslim background, his socialist agenda… everything. And now we are stuck with him. Chicago thug, black supremacist, socialist, Muslim, America-basher, and our president. It doesn’t get any sicker than that.

Oops!

Secret List Of Nuke Sites Accidentally Released.

Are you effing kidding?

Had anyone in the Previous Administration allowed this to happen, there would be screams for heads to roll!

But not in the era of Hope'nChange where the publication of a 266-page list of 103 U.S. nuclear sites, some of which were
"highly confidential safeguards sensitive", and which details the location and work done there, is apparently no big deal.

The list was published MAY 6th and just recently taken down!

"There are "zero" national security implications to the publication of this document", said Steven Aftergood, director of the Federation of American Government's Project on Government Secrecy.

"I regret that some people are painting it as a roadmap for terrorists because that's not what it is," Aftergood said.

"This is not a disclosure of sensitive nuclear technologies or of facility security procedures. It is simply a listing of the numerous nuclear research sites and the programs that are under way," Aftergood said. "And so it poses no security threat whatsoever."

Hey, Mr Aftergood, perhaps you could define "highly confidential safeguards sensitive" and the reasons for this classification for me.

NOTE: I googled Steven Aftergood and got: www.fas.org/sgp/aftergood.html

However, the page would not load even after several attempts.
Too bad the site with The LIST didn't have that problem.

Obama: U.S. Could Be Seen as A Muslim Country

Only in your dreams/our nightmares.

From Jeff Zeleny, NY Times:

In an interview with Laura Haim on Canal Plus, a French television station, Mr. Obama noted that the United States also could be considered as “one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.”

The president said the United States and other parts of the Western world “have to educate ourselves more effectively on Islam.”

...“And one of the points I want to make is, is that if you actually took the number of Muslim Americans, we’d be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world,” Mr. Obama said. “And so there’s got to be a better dialogue and a better understanding between the two peoples.”

> N.F.: Oh, I think those of us who are paying attention have a good understanding of the Muslim world. <

The president is flying Air Force One directly from Washington to Riyadh. The White House press corps — traveling on a chartered United 767 — is refueling in Hahn, Germany.
> N.F.: Excuse me, but didn't the WH Press Corps used to travel on AF One? Are they relegated to a separate plane because Obama doesn't want to be bothered with pesky questions? Is his transparent presidency becoming murky?<

Talk About Luck

US Hwy 100, just outside Flagstaff, AZ.

Look at the 1st picture below: you can see where the truck broke through the guardrail to the right side of the culvert, where the people are standing.

The pick-up was traveling about 75 mph from right to left when it crashed through the guardrail. It flipped end-over-end, bounced off and across the culvert outlet and landed right side up on the left side of the culvert, facing the opposite direction from which the driver was traveling.

The 22-year-old driver and his 18-year-old passenger were unhurt except for minor cuts and bruises.

Now look at the big picture:

I wonder if I could get this guy to pick some lottery numbers for me.

The GM Financial Fiasco

GM filed for Chapter 11
bankruptcy today.

GM stock got thrown off the stock market.
It's now considered to be a penny stock .

GM workers are wondering if they will get their last paycheck.

Oh, and get this:

GM's reorganization plan will rely on up to $30 billion of additional financial assistance from the Treasury Department

Wait a minute.
The whole bailout thing was to prevent GM from going bankrupt because that would have been a disaster. But now bankruptcy is not a disaster? Go figure.

I admit to not being a math genius but I have always balanced my checkbook.

I'd like to know, where did all of those previous billions of bailout dollars go?
