Y So Srs?

Do you remember the recent furor over the poster of Barack Hussein Obama?

Why, yes. It was so ... mocking. So disrespectful.

And do you remember these:

Why, yes. They were so mocking. So disrespectful.

But that was Bush.

It was okay, even encouraged, to express one's dislike, even hatred, of the 43rd POTUS.

And people did.

And there was no public outcry of
Racism.

My, how times have
Changed.

Gitmo North

Despite the sheer idiocy of deliberately bringing terrorists into this country ...

The old maximum-security state prison in Standish, Michigan (145 miles from Detroit), which the state is closing, may become the new home of t
he 229 suspected al-Qaida, Taliban, and foreign fighters currently being held at Guantanamo Bay.

The local residents want the prison to stay open, but not for Gitmo transferees.

Governor Jennifer Granholm said she would rather take in prisoners from other states, such as California, than the Guantanamo detainees.
Leavenworth, Kansas, the second place on the list, doesn't want 'em either. In May, residents there told Senator Pat Roberts at a town hall meeting that 95% of the local community opposes it
The Opinionated Fool makes this observation:
Keeping in mind that Michigan has one of the largest Muslim populations in the U.S. (if not THE largest), it's not too much of a stretch to imagine Muslim guards guarding the Muslim internees, especially if this prison is run by the Feds (Bureau of Prisons).
Hello, what is that ringing in my ears?
Oh, it's an ALARM bell!
My 1st thought was, hey, just open the Gitmo gates and march 'em down the road towards Havana ... kinda like what Fidel did in 1980 when he opened the prisons and the insane asylums during the Mariel boatlift and sent approximatey 124,000 undocumented Cubans to the U.S. All of whom were welcomed by Goober Carter.
And, oh yeah, one government official estimated the cost for upgrading the building and security at over $100,000,000. Hey, what's a measly 100 Million Dollars to Barack Hussein Obama?

Congressional Fool: Charlie Rangel

Rep. Charlie Rangel (D / N.Y.) is the chairman of the powerful Ways and Means Committee.

Like most politicians and like all Dummycrats, he doesn't mind spending money - as long as it's ours and not his.

From Leo:

Morality and Charlie Rangel's Taxes

Ever notice that those who endorse high taxes and those who actually
pay them aren't the same people?

Consider the curious case of House Ways and
Means Chairman Charlie Rangel, who is leading the charge for a new 5.4- percentage point income tax surcharge and recently called it "the moral thing to do."

About his own tax liability he seems, well, less
fervent.
Mr. Rangel soon admitted having failed to report rental income of
$75,000 over the years.
First he blamed his wife for the oversight because he said she was supposed to be managing the property.

Then he
blamed the language barrier.

"Every time I thought I was getting
somewhere, they'd start speaking Spanish," Mr. Rangel explained.

Mr. Rangel promised last fall to amend his tax returns, pay what is
due and correct the information on his annual financial disclosure form. But the deadline for the 2008 filing was May 15 and as of last week he still had not filed. His press spokesman declined to answer questions about anything related to his ethics problems.

Besides not paying those pesky taxes, Mr. Rangel had other reasons for
wanting to hide income. As the tenant of four rent-stabilized apartments in Harlem, the Congressman needed to keep his annual reported income below $175,000, lest he be ineligible as a hardship case for rent control. (He also used one of the apartments as an office in violation of rent-control rules, but that's another story.)

Mr. Rangel said last fall that "I never had any idea that I got any
income'' from the villa.
Try using that one the next time the IRS calls.

The Dummycrat Two-Step

The dance is being led by President Two-Face. Then:
“I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face,” Senator Obama told his supporters on the campaign trail in fall of 2008.
Now: The Democratic National Committee has dismissed the town hall (health care) protests as "mob rule" .
The White House has called the uproar at recent town halls on health care “manufactured outrage.” Senator Harry Reid calls the concerned citizens speaking their minds “loud, shrill voices.” Nancy Pelosi called protesters Nazis, who are "carrying swastikas and symbols like that to a town meeting on health care." There is no evidence on this whatsoever. --Andrea Tantaros
From Hot Air:
* Asking Representatives and Senators to read bills before voting on them is "killing democracy".

* Sen. Specter saying “we have to make judgments very fast” is awesome. Booing him for saying so is shutting off debate.

* Healthcare protesters are thugs shutting off debate; antiwar protesters are “rowdy.”
Are you paying attention yet?

Fallen Hero: Cpl Benjamin Kopp

This is not just another Fallen Hero story:

MPR:
Rosemount, Minn. (AP) — Army Ranger Benjamin Kopp died last month after being wounded in Afghanistan, but a part of the Minnesota soldier lives on...

Judy Meikle (57 yr old Chicagoan) says she got a call about Kopp's death two weeks ago from the soldier's cousin, who's her close friend. His heart was a perfect match for Meikle.

She says she now has the heart of an Army Ranger who's a bona fide hero.

Corporal Benjan Stephen Kopp,
21, was seriously wounded during a combat operation in southern Afghanistan July 10. Kopp was medically evacuated through Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany to Walter Reed Medical Center, Washington, D.C., where he later died as a result of his wounds July 18.

His unit had attacked a Taliban safe haven where they fought a determined enemy from multiple directions for several hours, resulting in the killing of more than 10 Taliban fighters, according to official military reports.

Requiescat In Pace, Soldier

Give 'em Hell, Harry

August 6th is the 64th anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan.

August 9th is the anniversary of the Nagasaki bomb.

Each year, I am reminded of what President "Give 'em Hell" Harry Truman said when a reporter asked him if he had any second thoughts about his decision to drop the bombs on Japan.

Harry replied, "I'm still waiting for the S.O.B.s to apologize for Pearl Harbor."

True Celebrity

Sometimes the inequality and unfairness of things just appalls and disgusts me.

 I'm not even talking politics.

I'm referring to our celebrity-worshipping society with its emphasis on entertainment.

Consider this: "Octomom"Nadya Suleman's 14 children will each receive $250 per day (on camera) for appearing in a new reality show

The combat pay allowance* for an enlisted Marine or soldier who puts his life on the line for his country 24/7 is $225.    That's per month.

So, please explain to me the logic of this.

*This is in addition to basic pay and other allowances.
