America Divided: Sanctuary Cities

The War Between the States was fought from 1861-1865, engaging 2,213,363 troops (Union + Confederate = all American) and accounted for more casualties than all other U.S. wars combined. The war produced about 970,000 casualties with about 373,458 deaths in Battle.

The Civil War was fought because President Abraham Lincoln was determined to preserve the Union of the United States.

The United States is a Republic governed by the vote of its citizens, NOT by self-serving city-states catering to non-citizens.

Today some American cities have chosen to shrug off the blood sacrifice of our forefathers and defy federal law by becoming Sanctuary cities.

Welcome to New America, where law enforcement looks the other way, where businesses pay the lowest possible wages, where the media is tolerant in their reporting and where the American taxpayer foots the bill for it all.

Where the message is that our nation's laws do not have to be obeyed and contempt for the law is encouraged.

Where spineless city councils cave in to businesses that demand access to slave-wage labor and where a cowardly, corrupt Congress panders to a voting bloc.

Where terrorists wanting to kill Americans come on over and wait in sleeper cells.

Some try to justify it as the protection of "immigrant rights".

Illegal aliens are not immigrants - immigrants come to the U.S. legally, and maintain their legal presence.

The United States is a nation of immigrants, yes, but immigrants who swear allegiance to the American flag and to no other.

Illegal entry into the United States is a misdemeanor, INA section 275, (8 US Code Section 1324). Repeated illegal entry is a felony.

"When U.S. cities and even entire states declare themselves to be "sanctuaries" for illegal aliens, they act outside the law, and by their actions could be charged with a felony for each violation of federal law by "concealing, harboring, or sheltering illegal aliens" (8 U.S. Code, sections 1324 and 1325; Immigration and Naturalization Act sections 274 and 275). -- James H. Walsh, Sanctuary Cities Defy the Law; April 16, 2007
What is the impact of millions of illegal aliens in this country?

1) Crime: The headlines speak for themselves.
     Visit the
Victims of Illegal Aliens Memorial and learn about some terrible consequences sanctuary policies have had on American families.

2) The Environment: Millions of illegal aliens = water shortages, atmospheric pollution, urban sprawl, vehicular congestion (and accidents). Interestingly, environmentalists do not complain about damage to sensitive ecosystems that the millions of illegal aliens presently in the U.S. incurred while crossing the border.

3) Health: Illegal aliens do not have medical examinations to ensure that they are disease free. The United States National Institutes of Health (NIH) have been concerned for years about the re-introduction of the polio virus and rubella (German measles) into the U.S. Cholera, TB HIV, and polio are other diseases the NIH fear will be carried by immigrants not properly medically screened.

4) Cost to Taxpayers: Federal law requires U.S. hospitals to treat all patients needing emergency care regardless of citizenship.
Many Mexican women cross the U.S.-Mexico border to give birth and deliver “anchor babies.” The childrens' families get all the benefits of American citizenship – such as medicaid, education, social security supplemental payments – and live in Mexico.

Officials in sanctuary communities whine that they don’t have enough money for health services, educational services, welfare programs, community facilities, and utilities.

American taxpayers pick up the tab.

We're expected to accept increased taxes to house an enormous illegal alien prison population and to pay for free health care for people who have broken the laws of the United States to be here.

We're expected to accept having our children taught in Spanish in our schools to accommodate people in the country illegally as our culture is replaced by a foreign multicultural invasion.

We're expected to accept having to 'Push 1 for English' when English is our national language.

We're expected to accept having to foot the bill for millions of illegals who contribute not one cent in taxes or to Social Scurity.

What can we do?

Call your Congresspersons (House and Senate) and ask for aggressive interior enforcement of US immigration laws.

Ask that federal funds be cut off to those cities (and states) who defy federal law.

At the state and local level, ask your public officials what your community's policies are in regards to illegal aliens. If there are official or unofficial sanctuary policies, ask that they be repealed.

Vote out the legislators who turn a deaf ear or who tell you one thing and then do another.

Until short-sighted, self-serving, cowardly, corrupt legislators are held to doing to what they swore to do - support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic - our country will be at risk.

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."
-- Abraham Lincoln
