"... vote for the person you believe is best for our country, not for the party you happen to belong to."
and the person Senator Lieberman, liberal Democrat, believes to be the best person to lead our country ...
"I'm here to support John McCain because country matters more than party."
No doubt the liberal backlash - and Senator Lieberman's punishment - will be swift and terrible.

That's too bad.
