An Inconvenient Truth for Al Gore

Global Warming has been good to Al Gore.

He's made a gazillion bucks through his Generation Investment Management company and various green companies and the carbon offset biz.

He won a Nobel Prize and an Oscar for his film, An Inconvenient Truth.

But lately the truth has become very incovenient for "the Goracle".

Global warming has gone from science to satire.

Mr. Gore has become conveniently absent.

Health-Care Summit and Photo-Op

...  aka the Capitol Hill Freak Show.

I didn't have the stamina to watch the whole day-long spectacle but did indeed catch the end.

The part where Barky admonished McCain, "The campaign is over" brought tears to my eyes ... because I was biting my tongue very hard.

I'm trying to cut back on the amount of yelling I do at the tv.

And of course, he had to remind everyone (yet again) that he is the President.

And over on   HOT AIR
one of the comments got my attention:

Don’t know if anyone else has mentioned this, but his calling all the senators and congressmen–who are members of a co-equal branch of government–by their first names really got on my nerves.  You just know it was his way of putting them in their places.   It would have been great if one of them had had a Barbara Boxer moment and insisted that Barack use the title he or she “worked so hard for.”

Or they could have started addressing him as Barry.

That certainly would have livened up the proceedings.

Thought For the Day

The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that, my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

Amsterdam 2012: A Blog Novel

I happened across this very interesting "novel of the future".

It is definitely a worthwhile read.

Unintentional Humor

Heard on the news:

A man got within several feet of Joe Biden who was sitting in a security-protected VIP section at the Vancouver Olympics.

Apparently he just wanted to meet Joe Biden.

The man has been taken to a psychiatric facility for evaluation.

How ... um ... er ... Appropriate? Hysterical? ...  is that!!

Belated Valentine

To my hubby who spent Valentines Day (and indeed the last week) being my special post-surgical nurse:

Thank you for the kisses and hugs, strong arms and gentle hands.

I love you even more now than I did all those 41 years ago, when you helped nurse me through a nasty kidney infection (on the very first visit home to meet my parents, as it happened).

Obummer: "Corpseman"

Here's a thought: shouldn't the POTUS / Commander-in-Chief be familiar enough with military terminology to able to pronounce military terms correctly ?

Remember when Dubya couldn't pronounce nuclear and the mockery that ensued?

So where is the mockery now?
