Welcome to Washington, General Petraeus

It's a sad, sorry state of affairs in this country when a principled, decent man does his job, does it well, and is blasted by a bunch of narrow-minded, hypocritical idiots (aka Congress) before he has a chance to speak one syllable.

Welcome to Washington, General Petraeus.
In the two days of hearings on Capitol Hill that you sat through, you were a helluva lot more impressive than the congressional idiots who had already made up their minds not to accept anything you might have to say.

These Congresspeople were elected to represent the American people.
The majority of them do not. They represent their own self-serving interests.

You probably didn't change any of their minds but at least your dignity and honor remained intact.

Even before the hearings began, Moveon.org, in the great tradition of liberal politics, accused General David Petraeus ("Betrayus") of "cooking the books" and charged him with 'betraying the American peoples' trust by spinning the facts so as to support the White House.

Our country is being betrayed alright, but not by our military ... By the damned liberal politicians and liberal organizations like Moveon.org and Code Pink-o. Barking Moonbats all.

General Petraeus' response to all the hubub:
“Needless to say I disagree with the message of those exercising the first amendment that so many generation of soldiers have fought and died protecting ...”
Congresspeople, especially you Lantos, Reid, and Clinton, take note: That was class.
"Patriotic dissent is a luxury of those protected by better men than they."
"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.” --Abraham Lincoln
