Political Correctness Run Amuck

Beachwood, Ohio, has canceled its annual Fourth of July Recreational Baseball League All-Star Game for 9-to 12-year-olds because "singling out certain kids as better players than others can hurt youthful self-confidence".

Santas in Sydney are rebelling against attempts to replace their traditional greeting of "ho, ho, ho," with "ha, ha, ha," because "ho, ho, ho," could be derogatory to women.

The Portsmouth, England, City Council informed a woman with an inflatable two-foot wading pool in her backyard that she must have a lifeguard on duty.

(NF: She should get an inflatable one.)

The British Youth Justice Board recommended that youths who hang around in groups committing anti-social acts should no longer be referred to as "gangs" because some youths who hang around in groups committing anti-social acts might find the word offensive.

In Tunbridge Wells, England, the borough council has banned the term "brainstorming" and replaced it with "thought showers," saying they fear the phrase might offend epileptics or the mentally ill.

Officials in West Cross, Wales, have announced plans to cut down a 50-foot pine tree in the village green because pine needles are sharp and might poke someone.

A high school senior in Apple Valley, Minn., was expelled for violating her school's zero-tolerance weapons policy when she purchased an 18-inch "Lord of the Rings" souvenir sword as a Father's Day gift while on a spring break choir trip in England 4,000 miles away.

(NF: perhaps they were afraid she would create an army of Uruk-hai.)

(Former) Attorney General Michael Mukasey, explaining the lack of prosecutions in the Justice Department scandals, says that "not every violation of the law is a crime."

A village drama group in Kent, England, preparing to stage "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" for their Christmas play, has been told that they have to change the term "dwarfs" to "gnomes" or "guardians of the forest."
In Los Angeles, a TV director was detained for five hours by airport security after he commented that he was there to "shoot a pilot."

(NF: The TSA hard at work (hardly working). )

St. Nicholas has been banned from kindergartens in Vienna, Austria, because public officials say that the sight of a strange man with a beard might "create fear" in small children.

(NF: Let's hope that Jesus makes his return clean-shaven.)

Sci-Fi Phooey!

We watched the new "The Day the Earth Stood Still" despit
e its awful reviews.

We figured that's
their opinion and besides, the CGIs will probably make it worthwhile.

The movie was a huge disappointment.
Especially Gort. When it morphed into a swarm of robotic insect-thingys, what was that all about?

When the earth stood still (finally), it was like an afterthought.

And the ending? Well it ended. Abruptly. Like this sentence.
What was that all about?

Oh well, there's always the new Star Trek prequel, which BTW, is getting excellent reviews.

Beam me up, Mr. Scott

Our Commander-in-Chief

Remember Barack Hussein Obama's surprise stopover in Iraq a few weeks ago?

 And the cheering soldiers?

Well, here's a different take on it: Obama's Potemkin military reception

According to a sergeant in Iraq: We were pre-screened, asked by officials “Who voted for Obama?”, and then those who raised their hands were shuffled to the front of the receiving line. They even handed out digital cameras and asked them to hold them up.

Right-Wing Extremism

A recently unclassified government report warns against the possibility of violence by “right-wing extremists".

The PDF File

Michelle Malkin:

"One of the spokespeople said he was told that the report has been in the works for a year. My b.s. detector went off the chart, and yours will, too, if you read through the entire report — which asserts with no evidence that an unquantified “resurgence in right-wing extremist recruitment and radicalizations activity” is due to home foreclosures, job losses, and…the historical presidential election."

John Lillpop at Canada Free Press
wrote a wonderful satire You Are A Right-Wing Extremist IF:
... but I wouldn't bet money that the left-wing howling mad Barking Moonbats don't take it as the gospel.

I guess I'm one (a RWE, NOT a LWHMBM) because I agree with over half of John's list, including:

  • I Believe that 9/11 was more serious than Watergate.
  • I Wear an American flag (and a 'My Son is A Marine') pins.
  • I Want America’s borders secured.
  • I Believe that Mexico is a foreign nation and Spanish is a foreign language.
  • I Doubt that Islam is really a “Religion of Peace”.
  • I Sing the National Anthem with my hand over my heart.
  • I Fly Old Glory on Flag Day and Independence Day (actually, Old Glory is on our balcony 365 days a year).
  • I Believe that preventing voter fraud is more important than empowering illegal aliens, felons, and the deceased with the vote.
  • I Believe that labor unions should be subjected to anti-trust laws.
  • I Dispute the belief that the economic meltdown was worth it in order to open home ownership to more people of color.
  • I Believe that the U.S. should spend more money on national defense than on foreign aid.
  • I Suspect that Nancy Pelosi is dumber than a pound of recycled botox.
  • I Have never applied for food stamps or welfare.
  • I Dislike Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez and other communist dictators.
  • I Argue that global warming is little more than hot air circulated by liberals for “green” profit.
  • I Want the UN out of America and America out of the UN.

BOW -Wow

The White House is denying that Barack Hussein Oba
ma BOWED to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia at a G-20 meeting in London.
"It wasn't a bow. He grasped his hand with two hands, and he's taller than King Abdullah," said an Obama aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
So then Obama bent over to, what, talk to the King's right elbow?

Perhaps we need to define bow.

Look at the picture. That is Barack Hussein Obama bowing to a foreign potentate.

It's practically a curtsy.

POTUS bows to No ONE.

Until now.

Still need convincing?

Check out the video. It CLEARLY shows Barack Hussein Obama bowing to the the king, THEN reaching with both hands to grasp the king's right hand.

So Mr. Robert Gibbs ("I think he bent over with both, to shake - with both hands to shake his hand ..."), You are a LIAR.

A Personal Thank You

... to the two Army helicopter pilots making an unscheduled stop at my son'
s base in Iraq.

His team was due to leave their FOB, the first step in returning home, but
were told that air ops were being halted due to an approaching storm. They could expect a 3-day delay.

My USMC son heard the choppers, checked the board, asked a few questions, and long story short - they got a ride out just ahead of the storm.

The Army pilots dropped them and all their gear off where they needed to be in Baghdad before taking off for their own base.

Thanks to you good guys, my son and his team should make all their scheduled connections and we will see him soon!

Ooo Rah!

What Goes Around...

Apparently
Khadija Abdul Qahaar -aka- Ms Beverly Giesebrecht, a Canadian journalist who converted to Islam after 9-11, is not enjoying the first-hand experience of Taliban hospitality.

Before:
"It is my hope that this will inspire others to Islam and to take a stand against this shameful war on 'terrorism."

Now:
"I need somebody to help me," Qaahar pleaded on the most recent video. "My government — the Canadian government, the Pakistan government — I want to go home."
