What Goes Around ....

  ... Comes around.

Back in 2004, when Senator John Kerry was the Dummycrat contender for POTUS, Teddyboy Kennedy did not want then-Governor Romney (Rep) to have the chance to appoint a *gasp* Republican as a replacement for Kerry in the Senate, should he somehow get elected.

So, the Massachusetts state legislature changed the law and gave control over the selection of senators to the voters.

Now a special election must be held 145 - 160 days after a Senate seat becomes vacant. The winner would then serve out the remainder of the unexpired term.

 Let the voters decide.

 Not a bad idea.

Now that Kennedy's Senate seat might become vacant soon, he wants the governor and legislative leaders to disregard the democratic process and the laws of the Commonwealth and change the succession, again... back to the way it was ...

... Kennedy asks that Gov. Patrick be given authority to appoint someone to the seat temporarily before voters choose a new senator in a special election. -- Frank Phillips, Boston Globe

Even if this is merely a temporary appointment so that the Senate remains unbalanced (bwahaha) in terms of Democrat numerical majority ...

Let the voters be damned, eh Ted?

Heaven or Hell

So, where do you think the newly deceased Edward M. Kennedy will end up, Heaven or Hell?

Well, according to "heartbroken" Barack Hussein Obama, "the country has just lost the greatest United States senator of our time".

I guess he's voting for Heaven.

Those of us who remember Mary Jo Kopechne and the events of July 18, 1969, may have a different opinion.

(Thank you, Bret Baier of Fox News, for mentioning Mary Jo and Chappaquiddick in your report on dead Ted this morning. I'll bet the media morons on other MSM news won't.)

Sir Teddy of Chappaquiddick

Queen Elizabeth II, in her infinitely dubious wisdom, has granted Senator Edward Kennedy an honorary knighthood.

But then QE II had also bestowed honorary knighthoods upon Nicolae Ceausecue and Robert Mugabe (both have since been rescinded).

Perhaps Sir Teddy will be known as the Lord of Chappaquiddick.

I especially like this account by Earl Grey at The Spoof:

It has been confirmed today that Ted Kennedy is to be knighted for services to car driving. In a controversial move Gordon Broon confirmed that the US senator was to be made a nit of the British Empire. The award will be bestowed upon Kennedy during a ceremony at Chippaquiddick.

The event will be attended by many famous politicians and celebrities. Simon and Garfunkel will perform "Bridge Over Troubled Water" in honour of the new Sir Ted. There is much debate as to whether these awards have any relevance in modern society. The British Empire once stretched around the globe. Now you are a Knight of an area the size of Hemel Hempstead. However, some still believe that an award bestowed by the Queen counts for something.

Ted Kennedy was asked to comment. "I was not drunk. I did not drive carelessly. It was a long time ago."

Miss Mary Jo Kopechne was unavailable for comment.

The Senate Family

The here-to-fore non-politically-ambitious
Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg has declared herself a candidate for the Senate seat-to-be-vacated upon the presumed departure of the Hildabeast for the State Department.

She seems to think it is hers for the taking. Because of her name.

New Yorkers, in a monumental act of logic, have decried Mrs. Schlossberg's lack of (political) experience and indeed her whole work ethic. As well they should.

But Mrs. Schlossberg isn't the only one who believes that a US Senate seat is a family entitlement. Her Uncle Teddy has proclaimed that when he dies, he wants his Senate seat to go to his wife, Victoria, so it can "stay in the family". Nevermind what the voters of Massacusetts might want.
And Democrats believe that Ted Kaufman, Joe Biden's longtime aide, newly appointed to Joe Biden's vacant Senate seat, is merely holding it for Beau Biden, son of, you guessed it, until the 2010 elections.

We should be grateful that Obummer does not have a family member eligible for that available Illinois seat.

Here are a couple of thoughts:
_Don't appoint replacements, ELECT them. period.

_Allow candidates to run for only ONE elected office at a time. (In 2004, John Kerry ran for the Presidency and re-election to the Senate at the same time).

_And have the idiot running for higher office resign his/her seat upon clinching the nomination. Like Bob Dole did back in 1996.

I only hope that people remember all this discussion about experience and entitlement when Mini-Me Clinton pops up. And she will.

The Kennedy Dynasty

Ted Kennedy has made clear to confidants that when his time is up, he wants his Senate seat to stay in the family - with his wife, Vicki.
Multiple sources in Massachusetts with close ties to the liberal lion say his wife of 16 years has long been his choice to continue carrying the family flame in the Senate. Kennedy won the seat in 1962; his brother John held it from 1953 to 1960.
“There’s no question that he’d like Vicki to continue in his seat,” said one Massachusetts Democrat with ties to the Camelot clan who spoke to Kennedy recently, before his health crisis.
Despite what Daddy Joe might have told you, the Kennedys DO NOT own that Senate seat.

Thanks to the passage of a 2004 Massachusetts law (to prevent then-governor Romney (Republican) from appointing a Republican to the Senate should Horse-face John Kerry have been elected POTUS), the governor cannot appoint someone to fill the seat, there has to be an election.

Hopefully, the Bay Staters will vote for fresh-blood, not tired old Kennedy blue-blood.

"Fatboy": an Autobiographical Fantasy

Great.    Another millionaire jackass politician bein
g paid millions of dollars for his lying autobiography.

I'll bet Fatboy Teddy Kennedy mentions Mary Jo Kopechne just as many times as Bubba mentioned Eileen Wellstone and Juanita Broaddrick in "My Lies" and Hillary mentioned Monica (et al) in "Lying History".

What else might be left out / glossed over?

His expulsion from Harvard in 1951?
  (for cheating)

Why the US Army denied him a commission?
  (cheating, again)

Why he was nicknamed 'Cadillac Eddie' in law school?

(cited four times for reckless driving -three times in 1958 and once in 1959- running red lights and driving with his lights off at ninety miles per hour in a suburban area. Teddy was convicted of three violations and fined, but for some reason -can we guess why- his driver's license was never revoked. Not even later, when he killed Mary Jo.)

How Daddy Joe bought / procured a Senate seat for Baby Boy?

(when JFK became POTUS, his Massachusetts Senate seat became vacant. But Teddy was not eligible to fill Bro's vacant seat until February 22, 1962, when he would turn thirty. So Daddy Joe persuaded the Massachusetts governor to name a Kennedy family friend to fill out Jack's term, keeping the seat available for Teddyboy.)

"Look, I paid for it," Joe explained. "It belongs in the family."
How about how he tried to sell this country out to the Russians?

(In 1983, Teddy-boy offered to assist Soviet leaders in formulating a counter-strategy to President Reagan's foreign policy and to complicate Reagan's reelection.) [

What's the Deal with Massachusetts?

Are Bay Staters more forgiving?

Are they shameless?

Do they define decency differently?

Let's look at what the residents of Massachusetts have elected to Congress:

(Former) U.S. Representative Gerry Studds (Democrat)
Admitted having sex with teenaged male congressional pages and bragged about it at a press conference.*

He was re-elected six times before retiring.

* On the same day in 1983 as Studds was admitting his affair, Dan Crane (R-IL) admitted an affair with a 17-year-old female page; Crane apologized tearfully to the House; his conservative district voted him out in 1984.

U.S. Representative Barney Frank (Democrat)

His affair with Steve Gobie, an $80-a-pop call boy,and personal aide to Frank, was revealed in 1989. Gobie was a convicted felon with a prison record and ran a prostitution ring out of Frank's apartment. Gobie accompanied Frank to public functions, even to a White House ceremony.

Guess who's still serving?
Barney Frank has been in Congress since 1981.
He is the Chairman of the Financial Services Committee.

U.S. Senator John Kerry (Democrat)

The 'Winter Soldier' and unpunished traitor who consorted with the enemy and slandered Americans serving their country honorably.

The faux war hero who threw faux
medals away.
The flip-flopping 'Swiftboated' candidate for president who was voted 'Unfit to Command'.

U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy (Democrat)

The Bay State's senior senator and lecher, whose Palm Beach sexcapades are notorious.

The driver whose cunning inaction caused a woman's death and whose family ties allowed him to get away with it.

In Oregon and Illinois and Florida, depravity and dishonesty can cost a congressman his seat.

The standards must be lower in Massachusetts.

Happy Birthday, Mary Jo Kopechne

July 26, 2007

Mary Jo Kopechne would have been 67 years old today.

She died July 18, 1969, gasping for air in the backseat of an Oldsmobile that had been driven off Dyke Bridge into Poucha Pond on Chappaquiddick Island.

The driver left Mary Jo behind to die alone after a night of drin
king and partying.

His story was that he drove down Dyke Road by mistake, went off the bridge, attempted to rescue Ms Kopechne, failed, rested a bit, walked back to the party, rounded up his cousin and a friend, returned to the site, but they failed to rescue Mary Jo, so he swam back to his hotel.

He did not call the authorities to report the accident until the next morning, 10 hours later. Two fishermen had already discovered the car and Mary Jo's body had been recovered by this time.

Although unsuccessful in his attempt to blame the accident on Mary Jo, the driver did manage to get Dr. Robert Watt, his family doctor, to explain his patient's strange behavior by claiming the d
river was in a state of shock and confusion and "possible concussion." (Dr. Watt later admitted that his diagnosis about the driver's post-accident memory loss had been based "on what the driver told him.")

Some had doubts.

At the inquest, Judge James Boyle pointed out that he could not understand how the driver managed to drive down Dyke Road by mistake since on the day of the accident, the driver had twice driven on Dyke Road to go to the beach. Getting to Dyke Road involved a 90-degree turn from a paved road onto a bumpy dirt-track.

Investigators found it difficult to understand:
1) why the driver was crossing Dyke Bridge when he said he was attempting to reach Edgartown which was in the opposite direct
ion;

2) how the driver escaped from the car. When it was recovered from the water all the doors were locked and three of the windows were either open or smashed in. The driver, a large-framed 6 foot 2 inches tall, managed to get out of the car
, why couldn't the much smaller Mary Jo?

3) why the driver did not seek help from any of the 4 houses -all occupied- that he passed on his way from the bridge back to the party (Pierre Malm and Rev. David Smith lived about 400 feet from the bridge, Fire Captain Foster Silva lived 150 yards from Lawrence Cottage, the party site)

The driver was unable to answer these questions.

Other questions went unanswered as well:

Why did the driver did not call the police while at the hotel?
Ross Richards had a conversation with him the following morning and described him as 'casual and at ease'.

Why did the driver make 17 long distance telephone calls during the hours he claimed to be "in shock" after the accident? (The calls were charged to his credit card)

What was the cause of death?
Dr. Donald Mills of Edgartown, wrote on the death certificate: "death by drowning".

John Farrar, the rescue diver who removed Mary Jo from the car, did not believe that she had drowned, but instead died by asphyxiation as the oxygen in the air she was breathing was used up and replaced with carbon dioxide. "She was alive, easily an hour, maybe two," he said.

Undertaker Eugene Frieh who prepared Mary Jo's body for burial agreed with Farrar.

There was no autopsy.

To drink and drive is a crime. To flee the scene of an accident is a crime. To fail to render aid to someone injured in an accident you caused is a crime. While sleeping around on your wife is not a crime, it does show questionable moral character.

The driver was found guilty of leaving the scene of the accident and received a suspended two-month jail term and one-year driving ban.

The driver was U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy.

Had you or I gotten drunk and driven off a bridge, leaving a passenger to die while choosing not to report the accident, you or I would go to prison.

Kennedy went back to the U.S. Senate.

Rest In Peace, Mary Jo.

Species: FOOL Genus: POLITICIAN

An Argument FOR Term Limits:

Hillary Clinton: "As women and as lawyers, we must never again shy from raising our voices against sexual harassment." (1992 American Bar Association luncheon praising Anita Hill)

Yet you never raised your voice to help Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey, Juanita Broaddrick, or the young Air Force enlisted woman who was cornered and molested by your husband on Air Force One.
Hillary Clinton: "We must stop thinking of the individual and start thinking about what is best for society." [1993]

"We're going t
o take things away from you on behalf of the common good." (June 28, 2004)

Thus speaketh Comrade Clinton, good socialist.
Bill Clinton: "No question that an admission of making false statements to government officials and interfering with the FBI is an impeachable offense." (Arkansas Gazette, August 8, 1974)

You
did and you were.

Bill Clinton: "I promise you the most ethical administration in the history of our country."
The London Times, Feb 12, 1995: "For a team that Clinton promised would adhere to a "higher ethical standard" his administration has presided over an extraordinary amount of corruption and an unprecedented number of high-level officials forced to resign in disgrace."

And we had 5 more years to go!

Bill Clinton: "If a President of the United States ever lied to the American people, he should resign."
So why the hell didn't you?
Ted Kennedy: "Do we operate under a system of equal justice under law? Or is there one system for the average citizen and another for the high and mighty?"
Mary Jo Kopechne could not be reached for comment.

Ted Kennedy:
"The Republicans are looking after the financial interests of the wealthiest individuals in this country."

You're welcome, Mr Millionaire Kennedy.

John Kerry: "I promise just to serve two terms. Republicans do it differently. They just have the son repeat the father's whole first term."

Democrats want to use the wife to repeat the husband's terms.
Christopher Dodd: "I don't care what the public wants, I'm going to give it what it needs."

Spoken like a true politician.

Barack Hussein Obama: ""My job is not to represent Washington to you, but to represent you to Washington."

If only he meant it.
